Modern translations add an extra verse to 3 John

I was not aware until today that modern translations of the Bible have an extra verse number in 3 John that is not present in the traditional translations such as the KJV, ASV, and others. I encountered the problem when trying to create a new Bible module, and discovered that the verse count I have was off by one. Instead of 31,102 verses (normal), the English Standard Version has 31,103 verses (unexpected).

I checked my collection of Bibles to do a little more research.

The discrepancy occurs because the standard critical Greek texts (the United Bible Society's Greek New Testament, the Nestle-Aland Novum Testamentum Graece, and the SBL Greek New Testament) have taken verse 14 of the third epistle of John and split it into two verses, verse 14 and a new verse at 15, at the sentence which begins "Peace be with you ..."

This presence of verse 15 occurs in the NRSV (1989), the New Living Translation (1996), the New English Translation, aka the NET Bible (1996), the English Standard Version (2001), the Tree of Life Version (2015), and the Christian Standard Bible (2017).

An extra verse number is NOT added in the Holman Christian Study Bible, the New International Version, the New American Standard Bible, the Complete Jewish Bible, or the New King James Version. I just thought somebody would like to know.
